One socket covering a driveway, a walkway, and the front door is a tall order, and this is the camera here that comes closest to filling it. The LaView pans a full 360° and follows movement through that arc, and its 4MP sensor records at 2560 x 1440 — enough detail to pick a face out across a drive. We like it for a plain reason: it does the whole job without asking for a monthly plan.
Setup is the easy part. It screws into a standard socket, and the app handles pairing and aiming. Night footage is where it impressed us most: the starlight sensor keeps color in the frame out to roughly 33 feet rather than dropping to grey infrared, so a car in the drive stays a recognizable car instead of a shape.
Where it can stumble is the connection. Site the socket where your phone shows two or three bars rather than one, and pair it from there instead of from the far end of the yard; that single decision is the difference between a camera you trust and one you stop opening. Tracking has a similar practical limit — it follows what's already in frame, so aim the base at the approach that matters.
The rest is unglamorous and useful: IP67 sealing for an exposed wall, a 110dB siren, two-way talk, and recording to a memory card so last week's clip is still there without a bill attached. Card playback is the feature we reach for most, and it's the reason this one stays at the top of our list.

This is the camera we hand to anyone who wants one socket to cover a whole approach: 4MP video, a 360° sweep, and no subscription required.
