The battery code is the whole decision here: if your Nikon pack reads EN-EL14 or EN-EL14a, this is the charger we recommend first. It covers a long list of Nikon DSLRs, from the D3100 through the D5600, plus the Df and several Coolpix P7000-series cameras. The charger itself is a small wall plug with a single bay, a 100-240V input, and a 600mA output. We like that it needs no cable: it goes straight into an outlet and takes up little room in a bag.
The 600mA output is not the fastest spec here; the SmallRig's dual USB-C setup is the quicker modern choice. But EN-EL14 packs are small, and a compact wall charger that lives in the bag is more useful than a fast charger you left at home. The LP also has a one-year replacement policy, which is more reassuring than the 90-day coverage on Canon's official LP-E17 unit. For a replacement charger, that's the kind of backup we want.
This is a deliberately simple charger: one bay and a compact body. The built-in plug is the detail we appreciate most: there's no cable to lose, and the charger is ready wherever there's an outlet. We keep it as the spare that stays in the camera bag.
Pros
- Fits a wide range of Nikon EN-EL14 cameras
- Compact built-in wall plug
- 100-240V input for travel
- One-year replacement coverage
Cons
- Some D5100 packs fit loosely
- Long-term durability is mixed
For Nikon EN-EL14 and EN-EL14a cameras, we recommend this one first: compact, simple, and cheap enough to keep as a spare.
