Most cable boxes force a choice: a small one that cannot swallow a surge protector or a big one that looks like a crate. The Yecaye set handles both ends with an extra-large 15.7-inch box and a 12.5-inch medium, and that is why it is our default for a desk or TV stand.
The large box is the one for a full power strip and the chunky adapters that crowd the ends; the medium suits a charger cluster or a short strip where the big box would be overkill. The rear opening lets cords leave in one direction instead of spilling out on all sides, which makes the back of a TV stand easier to tidy.
Vent holes along the sides are a practical detail rather than a bullet-point flourish. A closed plastic box can turn a warm strip into a warmer one, so the airflow is worth having. We also appreciate the plain white ABS finish: it disappears against a baseboard or under a console instead of calling attention to itself.
Setup is deliberately simple: no hinges, no tools, no instructions worth keeping. Drop in the strip, route the cords, and set the top back. The two-box set covers more setups with less guesswork, which is what we want from a first cable box.
Pros
- Two sizes cover strip and charger setups
- Rear opening keeps cords routed together
- Side vents help air move around the strip
- Clean white shell disappears under furniture
Cons
- Lid can shift when a cord is tugged
For most desks and TV stands, we recommend the Yecaye set first: an extra-large box for a full surge protector and a medium for the smaller mess, both ventilated.
