Two rechargeable controller batteries and two replacement covers come in the YOGES box, and that is the detail that decides it for us. Controller batteries are the running cost of owning a Quest, and a dock that includes the packs and the covers turns the whole business into a non-issue. Fitting the covers is a one-time job; after that the controllers go into the base and charge on contact.
The headset side is a top cradle fed by a USB-C connection rather than a pin dock, and YOGES quotes about two and a half hours for a full charge, among the quicker claims in this group. The stand is compact — eight inches square by two high — so it takes a corner of a desk rather than the desk itself. It is also Quest 3 and 3S only, and the company says so plainly: a Quest 2 will not fit.
Clearance for an Elite Strap with a battery is the other thing that separates it from the cheaper docks here, and the LED can be switched off when the dock lives in a bedroom. A one-year warranty is part of the deal, which matters in a category where the contacts are the first thing to give out.
The routine it creates is the point: headset down, controllers down, done. The one thing to get right on day one is the covers — seated a hair off, a controller will not start charging, and the only clue is the light. Fit them carefully once and the dock disappears into the furniture.
Pros
- Battery packs and covers in the box
- Fits an Elite Strap with battery
- About 2.5 hours for a full headset charge
- One-year warranty included
Cons
- Controller packs may not last a year
The dock we point Quest 3 and 3S owners to: it charges the headset and both controllers, and the battery packs and covers come in the box.
