The Roku Plus Series wins this group because of what sits behind the glass: a Mini-LED backlight with full-array local dimming, the arrangement we check for first on any QLED. Instead of one sheet of light glowing behind the whole picture, the set dims the zones behind dark parts of a scene, so letterboxed movies stay black at the edges and night scenes keep their detail. Dolby Vision, still not a given at this money, handles the rest. It's the one set here that looks genuinely good in a dim room and a bright one.
Sound is the second surprise. Roku fits a 4.1-channel, 50-watt Dolby Atmos system in here, and it's the set in this roundup we were happiest to watch a whole film on without adding a soundbar. Four HDMI inputs also mean a console, a streaming stick, a soundbar and a disc player can all stay plugged in at once, which stops mattering right up until the moment you're crouched behind a wall-mounted TV with a flashlight.
Two things to know before you commit. The panel is 60Hz, so a PS5 or a gaming PC can't show the frames it produces — the TCL T7 further down is the better buy on that count. And in some units these sets have stopped powering on within the first weeks, so buy where the return process is painless and run it hard early.

This is the set we point most people to: Mini-LED dimming, Dolby Vision and real Atmos sound at a midrange price, in the size most living rooms actually need.
