The 2.16-inch interior depth is the figure that won us over. It gives a folded program, a medal ribbon, a shell, or a layer of dried flowers room to sit without the glass pressing on them. Plenty of 11x14 frames look generous from the outside and then turn out to be about an inch deep inside; this one is deep enough to be useful for actual objects, not just flat photos.
We also like the magnetic front door. It opens smoothly and snaps shut, so we can arrange a collage without taking the frame off the wall or wrestling with a back panel. The linen backing and eight ball pins are ready for a lightweight display; for a heavier medal or a thick object, add your own wire or a small adhesive pad.
The real glass front is the other reason this one sits at the top. It wipes clean and stays clear, and it gives the display a more finished look than an acrylic pane. The 11x14 size is large enough for a small bouquet or a group of tickets, but it does not overwhelm a normal wall.
The four hooks on the back let you hang it horizontally or vertically, and the included wall accessories mean you can put it up without a separate hardware run.
Pros
- 2.16-inch interior depth fits layered objects
- Magnetic glass door opens easily for arranging
- Linen back and eight pins included
- Hangs vertically or horizontally
Cons
- 3.03-inch exterior depth needs wall clearance
For most mixed keepsake collections, this is the shadow box we recommend: 2.16 inches of interior depth, a magnetic glass door, and an 11x14 linen back that handles medals, tickets, and dried flowers.
